American Samoa National Park
Type Hike is a typographic exploration of our National Parks in celebration of their recent Centennial. James Louis Walker of Husbandmen co-founded the project alongside designer David Rygiol. They invited 59 designers (like little ole me) to submit a typographic response to each of the National Parks, raising awareness of their centennial, with 100% of proceeds going directly to the National Parks.
I selected American Samoa National Park because of it's rich culture, lush natural beauty, and seclusion. It is truly an otherworldly place. I pulled inspiration from traditional tattoos as seen in the picture below by Greg Semu, as well as water and wind patterns surrounding the islands.
